This article in People Management Magazine, brought to you by the CIPD, reports that workplace stress played a role in about over 1,000 employment tribunal rulings last year, with 1 in 10 tribunals linked to stress, often in situations involving poor performance or unfair dismissal.

In their analysis, our very own Dr Jo Burrell, Clinical Psychologist and Co-founder of Ultimate Resilience emphasises that rising levels of employee stress and burnout are not just individual issues but warning signs of deeper organisational strain; when ignored, they can damage performance, decision-making and workplace relationships, ultimately increasing the likelihood of grievances and legal action.

Jo also highlights the knock-on effect on managers and HR professionals, who face growing pressure when supporting stressed employees, arguing that businesses must recognise and address these systemic pressures early rather than allowing them to escalate into more serious problems.
