We were pleased to be cited by Liam Soutar, Deputy Head of Content for an article in HR Grapevine which focused on our report of the findings of The HR Mental Wellbeing Survey 2025.
An interesting read with key findings from the report, Liam highlights how "demands on HR have surged in recent years, with rising expectations around culture, wellbeing, restructures, and crisis response, often without any corresponding increase in resources or support."
He cites Jo and I from the report when we say that "“The mental wellbeing of HR is a critical factor in organisational resilience,” said Baker and Burrell. “Yet, too often, it’s left off the agenda.” And also cites our partner from Towergate Employee Benefits, Debra Clark who comments on the need for HR to take up Employee Benefits.
He also adds some recommendations from the report. In particular he advocates for:
Access to professional HR supervision services
Support for HR to take up employee benefits
Wider cultural change around how emotional labour is acknowledged, supported, and resourced
Ultimately the article urges employers "to stop viewing HR as an unlimited emotional resource, and start treating the mental health of people professionals as a strategic priority."
